FORENSIC PSYCHIATRY
The word forensic comes from a Latin word that
means forum or court of law. The technique of using scientific methods
in solving crimes is called forensic science. A person who
examines evidence in a crime laboratory is known as a forensic
scientist or a criminalist.
Forensic science includes such
specialties as forensic psychiatry, forensic toxicology, and
forensic pathology. A forensic psychiatrist examines persons
suspected of a crime to determine if they are legally sane.
